Bath is full of amazing owner-run businesses, and many of those are run by wonderful women, fellow Mums in Bath, working hard to juggle parenthood with offering the very best products and services to others in our lovely city.
One such mum is Polly Chadwick, owner of The Bath Massage Company based at Seasons Health Natural Health Store on George Street.
Polly moved to Bath from London in 2009. She grew up in the beautiful Ribble Valley in Lancashire and came to Bath after having studied a degree in fashion and textiles in Winchester, via Cornwall, the Middle East and London. She now lives in Bristol with her husband and 18 month old. The West Country has found a place in Polly’s heart with its accessibility to the coast (she is a big surfing fan) and the beautiful countryside on our doorstep.
Having always had an interest in alternative medicine and therapies, Polly left her glamorous and successful career in beauty PR to follow her desire for a more grounded and down-to-earth way of living. After doing a BTEC and ITEC in massage Polly took the plunge and left her job in Dubai to head back to the UK to set up a business.
Polly fell in love with Bath’s relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with lots of independent businesses, so decided to start her business here. With its long history in health and well-being as a spa town it seemed the perfect place for her new therapy business. And how right she was! Polly’s business, The Bath Massage Company, is now a well established part of the city and will be celebrating 10 years of business next year.
Along with her team of four amazing therapists Polly offers a variety of massages and Reflexology treatments from her space on George Street. Within The Bath Massage Company is is 'Bump, Birth and Baby' specialising in maternity treatments including pregnancy massage, reflexology for pregnancy and birth, and her very popular hypnobirthing courses, as well as baby massage courses.
Polly is passionate about supporting women during pregnancy and birth and knows first hand how much confidence hypnobirthing techniques can give. She loves seeing her clients journeys; often meeting them before and during pregnancy and then welcoming them with their new baby to her weekly baby massage course.
When asked what she loves about her business Polly said, ‘we really pride ourselves in offering all of our clients a caring and client-centred treatment, which means we take the time and care to make sure they get what they need, to help them on their journey and support them in their lives.’

If you could give other mums one piece of advice, what would it be?
Don’t leave the house without a banana – the best advice I was given at my baby shower. And to this day I live by it, it’s got me out of a many hungry baby (and mum) melt downs!
